  • Applied Statistics 2023

    We are pleased to announce that the 19th Applied Statistics 2023 will be held in Koper/Capodistria on September 24‒26, 2023. The event will be hosted by the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies of the University of Primorska.   • Applied Statistics Conference, 19 – 21 September 2022

    Dear colleagues and friends

    We are happy to announce that the 18th Applied Statistics Conference will take place on 19-21 September 2022 in Ljubljana. The event will be hosted at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

    The International Applied Statistics conference is organised by Statistical Society of Slovenia and Faculties of University of Ljubljana (main supporters are Faculty of Social sciences and Faculty of Medicine).

    The registration to the Applied Statistics conference is free of charge but registration to the event is required. The deadline for abstract submission is July 25.  Please visit the web page of the conference https://statd.wordpress.com/applied-statistics-conference/as2022/ to submit your abstract and to register for the Conference.

    The programme of the first two days will include two invited speakers, invited sessions and contributed oral and poster sessions. Wednesday September 22 will be devoted to the Workshop.

    The invited speakers will be:

    Vienna University of Technology, Austria
    Robust linear and logistic regression for high-dimensional compositional data
    Matthias Schmid
    University of Bonn, Germany
    Competing risks methods for discrete time-to-event data

    The workshop “Generalized blockmodeling in R using blockmodeling package” will be held by Aleš Žiberna and Marjan Cugmas from University of Ljubljana on Wednesday 21 September.


    We are looking forward to meeting in person again, bringing together leading experts in statistics, data analysts and other professionals from various statistical and related fields to present their research, discuss presentations online and learn from each other.

  • 17. mednarodna konferenca Applied Statistics

    17. mednarodna konferenca Applied Statistics je potekala od 20. do 22. septembra 2021, tokrat prvič v spletni izvedbi.

    Konferenca je potekala v angleškem jeziku.

    V prvih dveh dneh ste lahko poslušali tri vabljena predavanja:  

    • Jan Beyersmann (Ulm University, Germany) – On censoring (with a nod towards causality) 
    • Anuška Ferligoj (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia) – Clustering of attribute and/or relational data 
    • Richard De Veaux (Williams College, USA) - The Seven Deadly Sins of Data Science – and How to Avoid Them 

    V ponedeljek in torek so potekale štiri sekcije z vabljenimi prispevki:

    Sočasno so potekale predstavitve prijavljenih prispevkov v petih sekcijah:

    • Actuarial and Financial Statistics
    • Statistical applications (sekcija bo potekala v dveh delih)
    • Biostatistics and Bioinformatics
    • Modelling and  Simulation
    • Network analysis

    Poleg rednih sekcij je bila tokrat prvič organizirana tudi poster sekcija.

    Dogodek smo zaključili z delavnico »SHARE dataset and analysis of nonstandard data: examples and applications«, ki jo je vodil Andrej Srakar (Inštitut za Ekonomska raziskovanja, Slovenija).

    Konferenco vsako leto organizira Statistično društvo Slovenije v sodelovanju s fakultetami Univerze v Ljubljani (glavni podpornici sta Fakulteta za družbene vede in Fakulteta za medicino).

    The workshop “SHARE dataset and analysis of nonstandard data: examples and applications” will be held by Andrej Srakar (Institute for Economic Research, Slovenia).  

    The conference will also incorporate the Third Meeting of the Young Statisticians Europe (YSE) initiative, which takes place in the framework of The Federation of European National Statistical Societies (FENStatS). YSE among other tasks also coordinates YoungStatS – the international blog and webinar project in statistics, supported by the Bernoulli Society of Mathematical Statistics and Probability and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS).

    17th Applied Statistics, International Conference 2020 postponed to 19-22 Sept 2021

    Dear colleagues and friends,

    We regret to announce, that due to the outbreak of the COVID-19
    and the introduced uncertaintes Applied Statistics 2020 conference is postponed to 2021.

    The conference is now scheduled for September 19 – 22, 2021.

    The aim of the conference (organized yearly since 2004) is to bring together statisticians, working in diverse fields of statistics and its applications.

  • 16th Applied Statistics, International Conference, 22-25 Sept 2019

    International conference 16th Applied Statistics 2019 is organized by Statistical Society of Slovenia and University of Ljubljana.

    Aims and Scope

    Following the very successful conference series of previous AS conferences, the 16th AS2019 conference will be organized in Hotel Ribno, in the vicinity of the magnificent Lake Bled.

    The main goal of Applied Statistics 2019 conference is to provide an opportunity for researchers in statistics, data analysts, and other professionals from various statistical and related fields to come together, present their research, and learn from each other. A four days program consists of invited paper presentations, contributed paper sections from diverse topics, and starts with a workshop. Cross-discipline and applied paper submissions are especially welcome.
